Todo Santos

Todos Santos is a beautiful and quaint Mexican oasis town, slightly inland on the Pacific coast of the southern Baja California peninsula. It is located on the Tropic of Cancer, 1 hour north of Cabo San Lucas, and about 1 hr. south of La Paz. Todos Santos is within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, and is bordered on the east by the magnificent Sierra Laguna Mountains. It is a cultural, artistic and agricultural center, with a vibrant Arts community and many Art Galleries. This tropical paradise is also very quiet and peaceful, providing a completely different experience than Cabo. For further information on this natural haven, check out the official Todos Santos website.

How to get there

Airplane
Flying is the fastest and most practical means of getting to southern Baja if you have a limited amount of vacation time. Numerous US air carriers fly to Baja. You will want to fly into either the La Paz, Baja California Sur airport, or the San Jose del Cabo airport. These are the 2 closest airports to Todos Santos. Once at the airport the remaining travel to Todos Santos must be done by rental car or a pre-booked shuttle. To ensure your desired travel dates, please book airfare well in advance, as the winter months are peak travel times to southern Baja, and flights fill rapidly.

Driving
This is not a recommended means of travel, unless you have a considerable amount of time. It is approximately 1000 miles down the Baja peninsula from the US border, and while the road is paved it is a very narrow 2 lanes with no shoulders, heavy transport truck traffic and is frequently winding through mountain country. Therefore, it cannot be safely driven at the speeds which we are accustomed to in the US.

Getting from the airport to Todos Santos

For most people, it will be desirable to arrange a rental car to be picked up at the airport upon arrival. There are a number of rental car companies available, depending on which airport you fly into, and these can be booked in advance online when arranging your flight. As all of our workshop locations are in rural areas at least a few miles out of Todos Santos, if you wish to go into town or explore more of the area, a rental car is the easiest and most economical way to do so.

The road from La Paz to Todos Santos is a new, 4 lane highway and is excellent. It is 70km from La Paz to Todos Santos.

The road from San Jose Del Cabo Airport to Cabo San Lucas is excellent and very scenic, though has much traffic on it. Once you are exiting Cabo San Lucas you drive north on Highway 19, approx. 70kms. to Todos Santos. This road is also very scenic as it winds along the Pacific for most of the way, but is a narrow 2-lane road with a fair bit of truck traffic, and must be driven at slower speeds.

It is NOT advisable to drive Baja roads after dark, due to free ranging livestock that wander over the roads. If you have a late airport arrival, it is advisable to plan to spend the night in a hotel in La Paz or San Jose del Cabo. Please contact us to suggest accommodations in either location, which will need to be booked in advance.

Once you have registered for a workshop, we will send detailed travel directions describing the route from your airport to the workshop.

Shuttle Service

Presently there is no scheduled shuttle service from either airport into Todos Santos. Private shuttle service can be arranged upon request, please contact us for further details. There is regular public bus service (Aquila-which is similar to Greyhound) that runs between both arrival cities and Todos Santos. Please contact us if you wish to have more information on this option.

Taxi Service within Todos Santos

Travel Requirements

You MUST HAVE a valid passport from your country of Citizenship with at least 6 months remaining prior to expiration, for all travel outside of the US, including Mexico.
Go here for US passport information. The Mexican government does not require prior application for a “Tourist Visa”. Visa paperwork is very simple and is supplied to all passengers by your Air carrier after boarding flights to Mexico. This paperwork is then turned in as you go through Immigration at the airport in Mexico.
